15 mins prepServes 2
A unique way to prepare salmon by braiding the filet, seasoning it with cajun spices, and grilling it to perfection. Finished with a sweet honey butter glaze and a touch of BBQ sauce for a delicious, flaky fish.
1. Take a salmon filet with the skin removed and slice it lengthwise into 3 even strands, ensuring they remain attached at the top.
2. Season the salmon strands generously with cajun seasoning.
3. Carefully braid the salmon strands together.
4. Preheat your grill or smoker to 375°F (190°C).
5. Place the braided salmon on the grill or smoker.
6. While the salmon cooks, prepare the honey butter glaze: In a small skillet, melt 2 parts butter to 1 part honey (e.g., 4 tablespoons butter to 2 tablespoons honey) over low heat, stirring until combined.
7. When the salmon reaches an internal temperature of approximately 100°F (38°C), brush it with the honey butter glaze.
8. Once the salmon reaches an internal temperature of about 115°F (46°C), brush it with BBQ sauce.
9. Continue cooking until the salmon reaches an internal temperature of 140°F (60°C). Remove it from the grill or smoker.
10. Top with more of the honey butter glaze before serving. Enjoy!
